To ensure a continuing supply of telephone numbers, New York State is implementing an “Area Code Overlay” for the New York 315 Area Code. A new area code, 680, will be added to the area currently served by the 315 code. Some of our customers have gotten word that callers from outside of the area and/or cell phone users have had occasional difficulty calling them. What has been an ongoing issue nd one that many rural telephone companies have exhausted efforts troubleshooting internally, has officially been recognized as a widespread concern by both the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and NECA (National Exchange Carrier Associate) Additionally, customers have experienced issues with fax machine properly transmitting with outgoing faxes to long distance areas.
Additional Resources:Customers experiencing issues can file a complaint with the FCC. For the FCC to take action, you must provide the caller's number (the person that tried to call you), the called number (your number), and the date the attempted calls or problem calls were made. If possible, you should also identify the long distance or wireless telephone service provider that serves the caller (i.e., the provider for the person calling you) and provide the time of the calls. To file a complaint, complete this online Form 2000B.
2/1/12 - Nicholville Telephone, with approval of the New York State Public Service Commission, has raised its rate $2.00 per residential line. Nicholville,New York, March 21, 2007 -- The New York State Public Service Commission again recognized Nicholville Telephone Company, Inc. for providing excellent service to its customers. The Commission announced that Nicholville Telephone Company was one of 57 companies or operating divisions in New York State to receive this Commendation for excellent service for 2006. This is the eighth consecutive year that Nicholville Telephone Company has received such an outstanding ranking for its service to customers.
The Commendations for excellent service are based on Nicholville Telephone's performance in relation to service quality standards established by the Commission. The criteria to measure the condition of each company's infrastructure include an evaluation of customer trouble report rates and the number of consumer complaints received by the Commission. Measurements are taken monthly for each operating entity.
